GALAXIDI 2025
1st Culture and Sports Festival
From May 16 to 18, 2025, the town of Galaxidi will host its first-ever three-day “celebration of unity”, with multiple cultural and sports events that highlight the values of community, active citizenship, and positive social interaction.
The Festival will bring together active citizens of all ages and social backgrounds, offering them the opportunity to participate in a variety of unique social, cultural and sports events, including running races, concerts, stem cell and blood donation, art workshops, dance performances, cultural visits, culinary experiences, and even a treasure hunt! All events will be rooted in community spirit and creative coexistence, embracing diversity in all its forms.
The award-winning life-sharing community “ESTIA Agios Nikolaos” for adults with and without developmental disabilities, in collaboration with AthensTrainers® and Ganymede Hotel conceived this Festival, which the Delphi Municipality is co-organizing. The Elementary Education Directorate of Fokida is co-organizing the events for all schools in Central Greece, while the Prefecture of Central Greece is actively supporting us. The Festival is under the Auspices of the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family.
The event has already sparked the engagement from more than 40 organizations and groups in Fokida and elsewhere to contribute as volunteers.
Purpose - Objectives
The Festival aims to highlight essential life values such as empathy, respect, love, trust, and acceptance, promoting a lifestyle where everyone is welcomed, valued, and actively involved in the community. The focus is not merely on inclusion but on co-creation and, more importantly, mutual enrichment, embracing a model where “WE” comes before “I”.
The most important aspect of the Festival is fostering long-term sensitization to the acceptance of diverse persons and the lifting of prejudice and exclusion, by highlighting that each person is diverse. Many of the events scheduled for May 16-18 are already being prepared by “mixed” groups, ensuring that the true essence of “TOGETHER” leaves a lasting impact.
The “ESTIA Agios Nikolaos” community leads the way in the practice of Equitable Inclusion. For the past 32 years, people with and without intellectual disabilities, live, work, and celebrate life in mutual enrichment. Committed to Extroversion, the Community has played a leading role in the social development and cohesion of the entire region. The initiative “Celebrating TOGETHER” aims to amplify the impact of its message.
